Discovering the Potency of the Heart, 21 September CANCELLED

Our bodies and minds are hard-wired for compassion; and we can turn that compassion toward benefiting others and growing our heart potential through Karuna Training. This one-day introduction utilises contemplative methods in the development of compassion, and introduces participants to the fundamental tenets of contemplative psychology.

Karuna Training is a programme in Contemplative Psychology that combines the wisdom of the meditative Buddhist tradition with the methods of Western medicine and psychology. Karuna Training is designed for people who work professionally with others, as well as for those who are interested in personal development using a contemplative model. It is particularly suitable for therapists, medical professionals, teachers, artists, organisational leaders, and parents.

Melissa Moore is founding faculty of Karuna Training and is currently the Executive Director of Karuna Training North America. Karuna Training is a two-year certificate in Contemplative Psychology, and is currently offered in seven countries. Melissa’s background is in community-based mental health, research, training and women’s issues. She has a PhD in Psychological Anthropology from California Institute of Integral Studies and a Masters in Contemplative Psychotherapy from Naropa University in Boulder, CO. She is a Senior teacher in the Shambhala tradition and has travelled widely teaching Buddhism, Karuna Training and community based research.
